The 2026 Butterfly Gallery: Pollinator Gardens initiative in Irvington, NY added many of these special gardens featuring nectar and pollen-producing plants to attract pollinators (including bees, butterflies, and birds).

Butterfly sculptures were painted by local artists to help promote the project, with each artist painting their sculpture in the style of a famous artist. My artist was Andy Warhol and I used his Marilyn Monroe (1967) as inspiration, incorporating similar color palettes from two of the ten-piece portfolio. Additional nods to Warhol include adding Marilyn’s famous beauty mark to each side of my painting and of course the title alluding to his classic quote on fame. The sculptures were displayed on Irvington’s Main Street between April 22 and May 31, 2026.
